He is the author of four books about food, beer, wine, and spirits. His most recent book is Expedition of Thirst: Exploring Breweries, Distilleries and Wineries Across Central Kansas and Missouri (University Press of Kansas).
His other books include Kansas City Beer: A History of Brewing in the Heartland (The History Press, American Palate series), KC Ale Trail, and Last Bite: 100 Simple Recipes from Kansas City’s Best Chefs and Cooks.
Based in Kansas City, Missouri, he’s a freelance writer with more than 15 years of experience covering food, beverage, business, and lifestyle. His work has appeared in Flatland, Recommended Daily, Feast Magazine, The Kansas City Star, Visit KC, River Front Times, The Boston Globe, and many other publications and websites.
